I originally drew Reculver in the series A Shade of Britain, then went on to take many photographs of the towers. Here is the first picture in this series.
Reculver village can be found on the South East coast to the East of Herne Bay. Its most famous features are the 12th century towers - all that remains of St Mary’s Church. The church was demolished because of fears that it would fall into the sea, but the towers were saved as a landmark for shipping.
