Sandwich

I have spent many happy days wandering in Sandwich and am very pleased to have begun putting it into this series.

The highlight of my trips has been to visit the No Name Shop and Bistro - wonderful food at lunchtime in the bistro and fabulous tarts and other delicacies in the shop - a place to find that elusive gift for your friends and family!

Sandwich Information

Sandwich is a richly historic town on the River Stour in the district of Dover, Kent.

The name of the town comes from the story that the 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, allegedly invented it because he didn’t have time to eat whilst he was busy gambling - instead he ordered meat between two slices of bread!

Sandwich has an annual festival towards the end of August.
